Vegetable gardening is not too difficult. Kids and adults will both equally love
and enjoy vegetable gardening if the flair is there. But that said, vegetable
gardening is not too easy either. Vegetable gardening sure does involve doing
some work and bending your back. Taking care of your plants and making sure they
are always well watered and happy is a task that requires a lot of commitment
and devotion. Things might sometimes go wrong. The soil might get lifeless after
a period of time and you will have to overcome all these to keep your vegetable
garden
happy
and bountiful. But of course, if you follow the right methods, things will
always work out the right way.
Though vegetable gardening is pretty similar to any other form of gardening,
proper planning is an absolute necessity here. You just need to have a plan.
Every plant has its own peculiar characteristics and needs and being sensitive
to these needs is very important. Select your plants and know where exactly you
will put them in your garden. Allocate spaces for the plants as well as
pathways. In doing this, make sure you have enough sunlight for plants that need
it and enough shade for plants that don't. You could look through the
square
foot gardening method for some ideas. You also need to know at what seasons you
will have which plants. Planning beforehand is always good as you can then just
get going with the actual vegetable gardening without having
to think too much. But then, sticking to the plan is also equally important!
One thing with vegetable gardening is that a good many plants will take a lot of time before you can actually reap the fruits. You will have to be patient. The best idea would be to also grow some small fast-yielding plants and not just the slower ones so that the vegetables you harvest from the fast-yielding ones will motivate you to persevere with the slow-yielding varieties.
